Is it proper Myspace etiquette to add as a friend a former boss?

She was kind of my boss, well a suprivisor, at an election campaign office which I worked daily at for two months. We really didn't have time to get to know eachother but I'd love to get in contact with her again. She's in her 30's and I'm 20's so I don't know if she'd want to be my friend. Would it be considered rude or improper to send a friend request?
