Holy spirit grieving?

i have been trying to get closer for a long time and i believe i am geetiing closer.. before i get this grief only when i do bigger sins but from past two days i am getting grief for even small sins i do ....it is really painful ...physically and mentally i cant stand with that pain ......what can i do ? i got a full time job and am doing part time studies ... .. i dont want to quit both ...hlp
