Should we have affirmative action?

I think although affirmative action was started with the very best intentions, the effect now is actually to divide people into groups that are now quite meaningless in the modern globalised world. Other developed countries abandoned the concept of 'race' a long time ago. It's time for the US to move on and focus on social disadvantage rather than skin colour.
