Is Sheffield nicer than Leeds?

I might be moving to Sheffield to work for a bit. Is it nice? I've been to Leeds a few times and I don't like it much, I think it's rough and there was lots of litter and chavs everywhere. I'm from Ediburgh originally so I'm used to living in a place that is nice. Is it nicer than Leeds?
